It’s a repeated question, “what do you all do when it comes to working out?” The answer isn’t always simple and it’s not the same for all three of us. Everyone likes a different routine and there’s plenty to choose from. There’s running, hiking, biking, swimming and walking, of course. You can be a yogi, hot yogi or Pilates enthusiast. Light weight lovers, heavy weights only and TRX-ers are out there. Spin classes are still cycling for many, and have you heard about EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) training? There’s that too. You get it. The options are endless.
We may not have the same exercise routines, but there’s one thing that the three of us are absolutely aligned on: the desire to put health and wellness at the top of our lists. Exercise and strength training is becoming more and more of a priority. We have all bought into the idea that what we do now, in our 40’s, will have a huge influence on how we are feeling and living decades from now. Strong and healthy is the goal.
We each go about our exercise routines in different ways. Gretchen ideally exercises daily for her physical AND mental health. It clears her mind and helps her to release stress and anxiety. Laura and Allison aim for 3-4 times a week. Yes, they always feel better after a workout but they feel okay if they skip days. They typically cycle through a variety of routines and might go through phases loving an activity for a while and then feeling the need to change it up a bit.
Fortunately, for all of us, workouts and workout directives are at our fingertips. Literally. YouTube and Instagram are in constant motion, turning out endless ways to sweat and tone. Here are the people we love following for workouts and workout inspiration.
